Stavern is a perfect starting point for great experiences along the coast. A bike ride or a walk on the Coastal Path is a must! Bicycles can be rented.

The coastal path offers a unique hiking experience in a beautiful cultural landscape

In Stavern starts Norway’s longest marked coastal path, a hike of about 35 km along the seafront, past 17 campsites, 3000 summer cabins in the middle of sunny glaciers and a wonderful smell of seaweed and kelp. A unique hiking experience in the changing coastal nature on the blue-marked path.

You can walk through Brunlanes, rich in ancient monuments. Numerous discoveries tell that people have lived here for thousands of years. The findings made on the Austein farm indicate that humans have settled here when the ice retreated about 10.000 years ago. Few settlements in Norway can exhibit so many and interesting discoveries from the Stone Age and the Iron Age.

You will pass through small fishing villages such as Nevlunghavn and Helgeroa, as well as the Mill, which is one of the gigantic moraines of the Ice Age. There many impressive stone carvings from the older Iron Age can be found. You will also find a unique botanical and geological nature. You will also see close by Berg’s old stone church from the 12^th century and an old mill from the 18^th century that has been restored and today houses a village museum.
